General Pathologist

Dr. Damaris Adera is a General Pathologist, with a Master'is degree in Human Pathology and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, both from The University of Nairobi

She has at least 5 years of experience in practice in the public sector with a focus on widening access to and providing high quality diagnostic services, strengthening laboratory operations and working with medical teams to ensure comprehensive patient management. In addition to the above academic qualifications she has had several in person and online trainings over this period, attended and presented in various conferences.

She currently serves as a General Pathologist at Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) with major focus on histopathology and a growing interest in Microbiology and Research. She has previously served as chairperson of IPC committee at JOOTRH a role she served and doubled as the lead focal person during the COVID -19 pandemic, and was involved in setting up the isolation ward, formulation of patient workflow, diagnosis and management. Other roles include member of TWG in National Cancer Programs aimed at improving access to cancer screening and diagnostic services in Kenya.

She is actively involved in collaborative research programs within the facility that play a critical role in patient management outcomes and policy development within the region.
