Anatomical Pathologist
Dr. Leah Obosy holds a Master of Medicine in Human Pathology and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, both from the University of Nairobi.
She has pursued extensive additional training, including a Senior Management Course at the Kenya School of Government and various specialised workshops such as Improving Quality in the Laboratory through Leadership, Management of Dead Bodies in Emergencies, and Trainer of Trainees in Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal Care.
Currently, Dr Obosy is the Pathologist on duty at TPN. She also serves as the Head of the Pathology Department at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital and Chair of the Pathology Department at Kisii University. She is also a Trainer of Trainees for bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsies as well as Fine Needle Aspiration.
Dr Obosy has actively participated in numerous seminars and conferences, including virtual events on lymphomas and pediatric cancers, specialised diagnostic techniques for gynecologic cancers and breast cancer anatomic pathology training. Notable conferences include the Kenya Renal Association Conferences and the East African British School of Pathology.
As a member of the Kenya Association of Clinical Pathologists and the East African Division of the International Academy of Pathology, Dr Obosy has contributed to the field with a publication on task sharing in pathology diagnostic services and a dissertation on cytomorphologic diagnoses from bone marrow and fine needle aspirations.
Dr Obosy specialises in human pathology, with a particular focus on diagnostic techniques in oncology, haematology, and forensic medicine. Her work has been instrumental in improving pathology services and training within Kenya and the broader East African region.
She is recognised for their contributions to quality healthcare through pathology, including leading workshops and training programs aimed at enhancing diagnostic capabilities and healthcare delivery.
