Consultant Pathologist
Dr. Noelle Atieno Orata is a Consultant Pathologist and Health Systems Specialist based in Kenya, with a strong focus on laboratory system strengthening in developing countries. She holds an M.Med in Human Pathology and an MBA in Healthcare Management, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Healthcare Management. Dr. Orata has extensive experience working in both the public and private healthcare sectors in Kenya, emphasizing public-private partnerships and collaborations.
In her role as the Head of the Department of Human Pathology at a local private university, Dr. Orata contributes to the education and training of future healthcare professionals. She is actively involved in several boards, providing strategic thinking and thought leadership. Notably, she serves as the Current Chairperson of the Kenya Association of Clinical Pathologists (KACP) and is a Trustee and member of the medical panel at Faraja Cancer Support Trust, where she offers technical expertise.
Additionally, Dr. Orata chairs the Children's Sickle Cell Foundation, advising on clinical care, laboratory management, health policy, research, quality assurance, and health systems optimization. Her leadership extends to serving on various technical working groups, including co-chairing the Ministry of Health's Hematological and Cancer Technical Working Groups.
Currently, Dr. Orata is engaged as a laboratory specialist in health system strengthening projects, focusing on the design and implementation of public-private partnerships and assessing their impact on healthcare delivery in Kenya.
