Chief Technology Officer

Nicholas is a software engineering and data science practitioner with a passion for building software systems that solve real African problems. He is also keen to mentor and raise the next generation of African software and AI technologists. Nicholas has worked in the software industry for the last 20 years, building software systems in the telecommunication, banking, and insurance industries across Africa.

He was part of the team that set up Safaricom Alpha, a first of the kind corporate innovation hub in Africa. He established a data science team as well as set up data science capabilities for the Product Innovation Department. Previously, Nicholas worked as a Software Engineering Consultant in Nigeria where he led and worked in teams that built software systems for a number of organizations including MTN Nigeria, Union Bank Nigeria, and Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers. He also worked at a number of Kenyan companies including Cellulant, Celtel Kenya, and Safaricom as a software engineer before that.

Nicholas holds a Masters in Software Engineering from the University of St Andrews and a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). He is also a member of various local tech communities and is a well-known speaker in these forums.
